Rebecca Sandberg, MFA

Rebecca Sandberg joined the university in 2022 as an assistant professor of English and has since transitioned to assistant director of the Cultural Enterprise. Rebecca is also a faculty fellow in the George Fox University Honors Program.

In addition to her responsibilities at George Fox, she is a freelance writer. In 2019, she coauthored a book entitled Now I See, An Invitation to Life to the Full. Prior to living in Oregon, she served as founder, director, and board chair of Re:new Project, a nonprofit organization employing refugee women in Wheaton, Illinois (2009-14).

Rebecca has lived and worked overseas with several international nonprofit organizations. She and her husband spent five years in Nairobi, Kenya, where she was a designer for Amani Ya Juu, a micro-enterprise for refugees (2002-07). She holds multiple certifications as a life coach, including adult development theory, transformative presence, and embodied transformation.

She holds an MFA in writing from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Wheaton College. She lives in Newberg with her husband, Roger. Together, they have three young adult children.

Rebecca enjoys long dinners with friends, dramatic poetry readings, hearty conversations, traveling, and painting in her studio.
