Arielle Hodges, PhD

Assistant Professor of Communication

Arielle Hodges

Arielle (Ari) Leonard Hodges joined the university as an assistant professor of communication in 2024. She arrived from Chapman University in Orange, California, where she completed her PhD in communication in May of 2024.

Prior to her arrival, she worked as an adjunct instructor and graduate student instructor the previous nine years at various colleges and universities in California, specializing in courses in public speaking, interpersonal communication, intercultural communication, and communication theory.

Arielle holds both a master’s degree in communication studies from California State University, Fullerton (2017) and a bachelor’s degree in the same discipline from Biola University (2013). During both of her graduate programs, she was a peer mentor in the communication department, serving as a resource for new graduate students as they adjust to grad school. She has also given guest lectures at Biola University, California State University, Fullerton, and at the College of the Canyons.

Outside the classroom, she has been an active member of her church’s connections team, serving the local community, for several years. Arielle lives in Newberg with her husband, Matthew, and enjoys traveling, reading and watching crime dramas, visiting eclectic coffee shops, and spending quality time with friends and family (and their pets).
