OSAC Scholarship Tips & Tricks
Oregon residents can apply for OSAC scholarships to help pay for school. There are more than 600 scholarships totalling more than $10 million!
Following are some tips and tricks to help you get through the long application.
Visit the OSAC Scholarship Application Help Center
- Here you will find the Application, Scholarship Catalog, and Scholarship Workbook, as well as Application Information with FAQs.
- There is some great information here about personal statements, essays, uploading transcripts, and what to include on the Activities Chart on the application.
Write your personal statements ahead of time in a Word or Google doc, then simply copy/paste.
Following are the questions according to the OSAC Help Center:
- What are your specific educational plans and career goals and why? What motivates you to achieve them?
- What have you done for your family, school, or community that you care about the most and why?
- Describe a personal accomplishment, impactful change or experience that has occurred in your life. What skills and strengths were needed to respond, and what did you learn about yourself?
- Is there any additional information you would like the selection committee members to know? This could include financial situations not reflected on the FAFSA or ORSAA or other information not covered in the application. This statement is not required and will not have any negative effect on the application if left blank.
Use the Scholarship Workbook to record your activities before you start the application (see pg. 13)
There are a lot of details to fill in, so think through the timelines, volunteer hours, and responsibilities ahead of time to make filling out the application go more smoothly.
Use our scholarship catalog.
This organized, easy-to-search list includes only those scholarships for which a George Fox student might be eligible.
Set aside several hours to complete the application. Don’t give up!
Details such as personal statements and activities will likely be needed on other scholarship applications as well, so your investment of time to prepare them and store them outside of the OSAC application will not be wasted!
