Program Overview
Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, is an exciting destination for university students looking for a unique study-abroad experience. Course Content
Kimyo University is an excellent choice for Mechanical, Civil and Electrical Engineering students entering their fourth semester (Spring semester, Sophomore year). The English-taught courses you’ll take will help fulfill the requirements for Engineering students this semester.
We’re looking forward to the opportunity to expand this program to include additional majors and disciplines in the future!
Excursions
While you're in Tashkent, you'll have the chance to explore the stunning cities of Bukhara and Samarkand, both steeped in rich history and culture. Bukhara is celebrated for its well-preserved medieval architecture, while Samarkand, one of the oldest cities in Central Asia, boasts remarkable landmarks. Your excursion will include a visit to the Ulugh Beg Observatory, where significant advances in astronomy were made. Additionally, a trip to Tajikistan will reveal breathtaking natural landscapes, from the majestic Pamir Mountains to beautiful valleys, providing a perfect blend of cultural exploration and outdoor adventure.
Housing
You will be living in an apartment and will be responsible for arranging your own meals.
Program Fees & Eligibility
You pay your regular George Fox tuition and room and board and continue to receive all of your financial aid. Due to the high cost of some programs, an additional fee may be charged. You are responsible for round-trip airfare. There also may be an additional charge for a visa. The fee does include emergency travel insurance.
To apply, you must be a full-time undergraduate student with junior or senior status, holding a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
Application Process
Applying to the program is a two-step process, requiring that you complete both a George Fox and an external application. Visit the Application Page to get specific details. Once you’ve completed the George Fox application, we will provide you with information to apply to the Kimyo University Study Abroad program.
