Digital Design & Marketing

Integrate Creativity, Technology, and Business for a Dynamic Career

Every time you use your phone, tablet, or laptop, you’re interacting with digital interfaces that were designed by someone for a variety of purposes: to help you complete a task, to inform you, to sell something to you, and more.

We interact with these screens through our taps, swipes, and clicks in the blink of an eye, but a great deal of care and creativity goes into designing and building them. As users, we can quickly identify who gets the user experience right and who gets it wrong, when it’s easy and when it’s frustrating. These courses will equip you to build your own interactive experiences that delight users and avoid the design pitfalls.

Digital Design & Marketing is a set of courses from different fields carefully chosen by faculty and industry and joined together through George Fox’s interdisciplinary major. Graduates will earn a bachelor of science in interdisciplinary studies with concentrations in graphic design, computer science, and marketing.

There are many jobs available at the intersections between these fields:

  • Web Designer or Front-End Developer: Build and optimize functional, visually appealing websites or software.
  • UI/UX Designer: Design user-friendly digital interfaces and craft user experiences for websites, apps, and more.
  • Graphic Designer: Dream up compelling visuals for print, digital media, and branding projects.
  • Digital Marketer: Create and manage digital campaigns to engage audiences and drive brand awareness.
  • Brand Manager: Develop and maintain a brand's image, ensuring consistent messaging across all marketing channels.

Each of these fields has something to add to the others. Web designers benefit from an understanding of how to market to consumers. UI/UX designers will do better work if they understand how developers will use their work. Digital marketers can take their work to the next level if they have a grasp of design fundamentals.

Having knowledge from all of these fields instead of just one will give you greater breadth and flexibility in your career. Whether you're designing the next big app, creating compelling brand stories, or launching innovative marketing campaigns, this interdisciplinary degree will help you achieve your career goals.
