Lunch for faculty and administrators is held periodically on designated days at noon, and support staff attend a support staff lunch on designated days at noon. In addition, combined lunches to include both groups are held on occasion. Lunches are subsidized by the university to reduce the employee cost.
8.2 Health and Human Performance Facilities and Services
The Hadlock Student Center is available for use by employees, spouses, and dependent children. The center offers programs and services, including a fitness center, climbing wall, rental center, group fitness and intramurals. See the Hadlock Student Center program and services webpage for more details.
Hadlock Student Center - Membership and Access
Students
The Hadlock Student Center (HSC) is open to all current full-time and part-time (taking five or more credits) George Fox undergraduate students. Graduate students taking five or more credits are also eligible to access the HSC.
Employees
All university employees have access to the HSC using their ID card during posted hours of operation. Adjunct faculty and temporary staff will have access while they are actively employed, although this group is not eligible for spouse or dependent benefits. Emeritus employees have the same access as full-time George Fox employees.
Family and Dependents of Employees
Full-time university employees can obtain a George Fox University ID card for a spouse or dependent aged 18 to 26 by emailing the IT Service Desk at servicedesk@georgefox.edu. There is a nominal fee for an ID card for employee dependents. Spouses and dependents are not allowed to use the employee’s ID card for entrance. A dependent is defined as a member of the household who is claimed as a dependent on the employee’s tax return. Dependents aged 14 to 17 can use the HSC while directly supervised by a parent/guardian.
Family Days
Several times a semester the HSC will host Family Days. Family Days are an opportunity for George Fox employees to use the climbing wall and courts with their immediate family members. Children under 14 are allowed in all areas of the HSC except the cardio/weight area. Family members aged 14 to 17 can use the cardio/weight equipment while directly supervised by a parent/guardian. Please bring your George Fox ID card.
Alumni
Several times a semester the HSC will host Family Days. Family Days are an opportunity for George Fox employees to use the climbing wall and courts with their immediate family members. Children under 14 are allowed in all areas of the HSC except the cardio/weight area. Family members aged 14 to 17 can use the cardio/weight equipment while directly supervised by a parent/guardian. Please bring your George Fox ID card.
Prospective Students
Prospective students can utilize the Hadlock Student Center if they have a Future Bruin VIP Pass (or nametag for Bruin Preview events) from the admissions office. The student must have a completed consent form on file with the admissions office, which is managed via their online student visitation process. Prospective students may take part in most activities offered in the HSC.
Guests
Daily guest passes can be purchased for $7 by anyone 18 or older. The guest must be accompanied by a student or employee possessing a valid George Fox ID card and be present with their guest while in the facility. Guests are limited to four visits per month. The HSC will occasionally allow access to the facilities for visiting individuals and limited-duration employees or volunteers who do not qualify for a George Fox ID card. Contact the director of campus recreation to discuss the specifics of your situation.
Questions
If you have a question about your individual status, please call the HSC front desk at 503-554-3333.

Employees can check out library materials from both the Murdock Library (Newberg campus) and the Portland Center library using their employee ID card and can request items online via the library's discovery system, Primo. Through Primo and over 150 licensed databases, employees have access to thousands of full text of journal articles, streaming video content, and more. The library's digital collections also include 350,000+ ebooks and an open access repository of archival materials and university scholarship, the Digital Commons.
