Transfer Credits
Transferring Credit from Another College/University
Students who have completed work at other educational institutions may be entitled to transfer credit by presenting official transcripts from those institutions to be evaluated by the registrar’s office. Course work may be applied to general education and/or major/minor requirements, or they may transfer as elective credit. Certain criteria must be met in the transfer credit evaluation. See the catalog for the transfer credit policy.

Study abroad through a George Fox University program
You’re a current George Fox student studying abroad through a George Fox University program in partnership with the Center for Study Abroad.
Courses taken abroad will be transcripted as if you were enrolled at George Fox during the semester. All credit will be transcripted, including the grade that was earned.
If you would like to earn credit toward general education or major/minor requirements, the course must be approved by the appropriate department chair and the registrar’s office. Simply fill out the Study Abroad Pre-Departure Course Evaluation Request Form. After the semester abroad is finished, an official copy of the transcript is sent directly from the program to George Fox and does not need to go through a third-party evaluation.
-
Study abroad through a regionally accredited institution
You wish to study abroad through a regionally accredited institution – either prior to enrollment at George Fox or while on a leave of absence from the university.
You may choose to study abroad through another university. In order for the credit to transfer, the university must be regionally accredited and the coursework must be transcripted by the accredited institution. If the coursework is not transcripted through the regionally accredited institution, you must choose Option 3 or 4, depending on the situation.
You must have an official transcript from the university sent to George Fox for evaluation. The credit will be subject to our standard transfer credit policies. If you would like to earn credit toward general education or major/minor requirements, the course must be approved by the appropriate department chair and the registrar’s office.
-
Study internationally on a leave of absence
You’re a current George Fox student on a leave of absence studying internationally (not through a regionally accredited institution).
If this option is chosen, we require a third-party evaluation of the transcript. Students may have the credit evaluated by any of our approved international transcript evaluation partners.
In addition, we require that an English translation be provided for any transcripts that are not in English. Most evaluation services will require this, but if they do not we will require that an English translation be sent to George Fox along with the original transcript.
If you would like to earn credit toward general education or major/minor requirements, the course must be approved by the appropriate department chair and the registrar’s office.

Credit from an international institution prior to attending George Fox
International Transfer credit – for students who have credit from an international institution prior to attending George Fox
For international credit earned prior to attending George Fox, we require a third-party evaluation of the transcript. You may have the credit evaluated by any of our approved international transcript evaluation partners.
In addition, we require that an English translation be provided for any transcripts that are not in English. Most evaluation services will require this, but if they do not we will require that an English translation be sent to George Fox along with the original transcript.
Please note that we require a third-party evaluation of the transcript even if the transcript is in English. If you would like to earn credit toward general education or major/minor requirements, the course must be approved by the appropriate department chair and the registrar’s office.
International Transfer Evaluations
College credit for course work completed at non-U.S. institutions may be accepted to transfer toward degree programs at George Fox University. However, all such course work must be evaluated by one of our approved evaluation agencies. To do so, applicants must submit official college/university transcripts for each institution attended, in both native language and English translation, along with copies of any certificates or diplomas awarded.
Transfer credit will be considered for each course for which a student has received a grade of “C-” or better for undergraduate courses of “B-” or better for graduate courses (individual programs may have specific standards for transfer work as specified in the university catalog). Submission of course descriptions at the time of application is highly encouraged so we can begin the evaluation process as quickly as possible.
Please note, though, that not all international course credits are eligible for transfer and some courses may not apply toward degree programs at George Fox.
