Assistant Professor for Seminary Doctoral Programs

Clifford Berger, DMin, is the director and assistant professor for seminary doctoral programs, having served with Portland Seminary since 2008.
With over 20 years of church ministry experience in Oregon, Kentucky, and Tennessee, he has also spent another two decades working with ministry organizations and in higher education. Dr. Berger leads the doctoral team and provides administrative and academic leadership for all seminary doctoral programs.
He sees his work with doctoral students as an extension of pastoral ministry, helping them succeed in their studies and ministerial formation.
Outside of his professional role, he enjoys traveling, spending time with his family, fly fishing, playing the guitar, listening to music, walking, reading history, and collecting leather-bound books. He is particularly interested in exploring remote areas of his home state of Oregon.
Dr. Berger and his wife are the parents of two adult children, both graduates of George Fox University. They attend Vancouver Avenue First Baptist Church in Portland.
