Read, Reflect, Connect...
Join us at the 2025 Association for Christians in Student Development (ACSD) Conference for a brand-new offering: an engaging book workshop designed to spark meaningful dialogue and practical application. This interactive session will explore key themes from a selected book relevant to Christian higher education and student development, providing space for thoughtful discussion and collaborative learning. Participants will gain insights to enhance their leadership, faith integration, and student engagement strategies. While reading the book in advance is encouraged, it is not required—whether you are revisiting its insights or encountering its ideas for the first time, this workshop will equip you with valuable takeaways to implement in both your personal and professional life.

Knowing and Being Known by Erin Moniz
Erin Moniz
Author & Associate Chaplain Director for Chapel at Baylor University
TBA
By covering a holistic perspective on intimate relationships, Erin Moniz’s Knowing and Being Known, explores the essential elements of healthy relationships, addresses the complexities of intimacy, and shines a light on the barriers that can impede genuine connection. This workshop will examine a Christian pedagogy of relational health in our work with students. Through interactive discussions and real-world applications, participants will explore how to cultivate environments where students feel truly known and supported. Whether you serve in residence life, campus ministry, or student leadership, this session will equip you with tools to nurture deeper connections and holistic growth within your campus community.

How to Know a Person by David Brooks
Brad Lau
Vice President for Student Life and Athletics at George Fox University
TBA
David Brooks’ How to Know a Person challenges us to slow down and engage more deeply with those around us in a world that often prioritizes efficiency over relationships. As student development professionals, our ability to truly see and understand others shapes the culture of our campuses and the lives of the students we serve.
This interactive workshop will explore the key themes of Brooks’ work, focusing on the habits of attention, curiosity, and empathy that foster meaningful connections. Through guided discussions, practical applications, and shared reflections, participants will examine their own relational practices and discover strategies to cultivate deeper, more transformative relationships in their work. Whether you're mentoring students, leading teams, or building campus culture, this session will equip you with insights to strengthen your impact and help others feel wonderfully known.
