Emergency Preparedness
At George Fox, the safety and security of the entire campus community take precedence as we strive to fulfill our mission. We are committed to taking every possible measure to provide a safe environment for our students, faculty and staff.
In the event of an emergency that threatens the well-being of our campus, our community members play a crucial role in responding to the situation and restoring our ability to carry out our mission. We believe that it is our responsibility to prepare and equip our campus community with the knowledge and resources necessary to respond effectively in any emergency. Together, we are committed to ensuring the security and resilience of our campus community.
Emergencies may come in many forms and from various directions. Being prepared is an important measure that will help you navigate an emergency situation.
How to Prepare
- Review the Emergency Response Plan
- Know the location of assembly points for the primary buildings where you reside, teach, work, etc.
- Always respond to an evacuation signal (fire alarm) as if it were an actual emergency
- Identify possible escape routes
- In shelter-in-place situations, locate the closest interior hallway or room(s) without windows and identify hiding places
- Identify the location of the closest emergency equipment, including fire extinguishers and automated external defibrillators (AEDs) - view AED locations on campus map
- Plan for other possible disruptions (e.g., medical emergencies, disruptive individuals), and keep a cell phone handy
- Participate in training exercises and drills provided by the university
- Create an emergency preparedness kit (check out our recommendations for what should be in your kit):
